The first WEALTH of a person is HEALTH. If a child is sick or is receiving poor nutrition, no matter how gifted that child is or even a genius child could no excel if one doesn't receive the right form of nutritional support. Aside from that, proper knowledge in the masses about health is also limited. This should not be the case since this is the future generation that we are talking about and they must be well supported for the future of our nation.

Truly we live in very interesting times, not only our nutrition and health are somewhat intertwined with the problems of community hygiene, education and food but also, with agriculture, environment and climate change. These issues we are facing in these interesting times cannot be solved by the same line of thought of the current generation of leaders and movers. This is where the youth must come in and help out in the problems in our community and what better way to show this by inviting young, enthusiastic students to share their creative ideas!

By partnering with more youth on this cause, the higher the chances of helping more communities become healthier and more productive.  Fifteen communities all over the country will benefit from this expansion through the social marketing programs by 15 youth teams that will all receive PHP100,000 seed money for
the implementation of their ideas.

The groups will also be flown in to Manila, with free hotel accommodation, meals, and transportation, to attend a 3-day boot camp where they can learn social marketing approaches from a pool of experts through workshops and case studies.
This year, not only is the program expanding to cover more regions, but UNILAB is also giving more focus on outcomes. The reward for the best teams will only be after they have demonstrated that their positive ideas have resulted in positive outcomes for the community.

Search for The Outstanding Cebu City Youth Leaders" (TOCCYL 2012) Cebu is initiated by the City Government of Cebu, through the Cebu City Youth Development Commission, & Office of the Mayor. The (TOCCYL 2012), is one of the highlights of the Cebu City Charter Day Celebration this year.

 This project aims to give due recognition to the young Cebu City Leaders who have unselfishly dedicated their efforts in serving the Cebu City community in active involvement and participation in community-oriented services especially health, peace and order and youth development.

The 9th National Youth Parliament has the theme, “Revolutionizing Youth Development,” the parliament aims to formulate policy recommendations to address youth issues in the country. These recommendations are then lobbied to government leaders to be considered as proposed bills and administrative policies. It is important to note that during the event, paricipants also get to share ideas and gain valuable insights and networks to aid them in their youth development efforts.

● Filipino citizen, aged 15 - 30 years old as of February 29, 2012
● Residing at the place of representation for at least six (6) months at the time of submission
● Must be a member of an organization

Dilaab Foundation is organizing a fun run entitled, "Youth for Hope, Wanna BET for Transformation?" on October 8, 2011 (Saturday).

RUN DETAILS:
1. 4:30 am at AFP Central Command, Camp Lapu-lapu for the10k
2. 5:00 am at PNP PRO 7, Camp Sergio Osmena for the 5k
3. 5:00 am at Seminario Mayor de San Carlos for the 3K

The runs will end at AFP Central Command, Camp Lapu-lapu where a raffle draw and fun-filled program awaits. They are inviting all Kaabag members to participate in this worthwhile endeavor.

There shall be a registration fee of Php50.00 per runner. This will serve as donation for the Wanna BET? Youth Initiative fund. Singlets are available at Php200.00 (optional).

What is Wanna BET Youth Initiative?
Dilaab Youth Initiative (a.k.a “Wanna BET? Youth” or WBY) seeks to ignite spaces of hope among the youth by challenging them to live and lead by the basics of prayer, fitness and (good) citizenship. It provides holistic formation to young people in their journey to becoming discerning, God-fearing citizens and leaders.

“BET” stands for Bible, Exercise and Tubig and is a simple effort to provide support in the youth’s journey towards personal integration. It includes text update on the Biblical readings of the daily mass and reminds them to do exercise, and drink 3-5 glasses of lukewarm water.

The 12th International Youth Day Celebratory Conference will gather 400 student and youth leaders all throughout the archipelago and from more than 15 different countries for an open-minded exchange of diverse perspectives on contemporary global challenges especially the attainment of the MDGs. The 12th International Youth Day Celebration and Conference will be on August 3-7, 2011 in Iloilo City, Philippines!

The Objective of the IYD is to facilitate dialogue and cooperation across an ethnically diverse and socially responsible group of student and youth leaders. This is our little contribution to the 10th year anniversary of International Year of Volunteers (IYV + 10), thus the objectives of the 5-day conference are as follows;
• to provide a venue for youth leaders and educators in the Philippines and Asia Pacific Region to come together; share and process their experiences; identify their strengths and weaknesses; and enhance leadership skills, techniques and strategies in the pursuit of the UN Millennium Development Goals;
• to promote solidarity, unity, cooperation and harmony among youth participants towards poverty-free Philippines by 2015 through the United Nations Volunteers campaign of the IYV + 10 commemoration;
• to strengthen youth volunteers programs in the pursuit of MDGs among youth groups like the student councils, Sangguniang Kabataan and UNYAP Chapters in the region.

YMA Season 5 is open to all young people aged 12-20 years old who want to enhance their competence, strengthen their character and practice active citizenship.

How to join?

A. Form a team of five (5) members under one of the following categories:
• Generation A : 17-20 years old
• Generation B : 12-16 years old

B. Accomplish the following:

Team requirements
1. Completed team application form (YMA Application Form 01)
2. Letter of recommendation and support from any of the following: school, barangay, office/organization, church, or whatever group the team is representing indicating their willingness and commitment to monitor the team and ensure that they abide by the rules and comply with the requirements of YMA.
3. A Team Accountability Partner who shall serve as a team partner, ensuring and monitoring the team’s compliance in YMA requirements.

Individual Requirements
1. Completed individual application form (YMA Application Form 02)
2. Completed medical review and release of liability form (YMA Application Form 03)
3. Certified true copy of birth certificate
4. An essay on “What citizenship means to me” in no more than 300 words (Arial, 11, double spaced, short bond paper)
5. A fee of Php 500* to be paid on the following installments:
• Php 300 upon taking the qualifying exams (first screening)
• Php 200 upon covenant signing (final admission to the Academy)
(*Actual cost of the program is around Php30,000 per scholar. RAFI will shoulder Php25,000 while City Savings Bank and UnionBank will shoulder Php4,500 per scholar).

The 2010 Youth Statistics released by the National Youth Commission reveals that 27.83 million or around 30% of Filipinos are youth aged 15 to 30 years old. This estimate indicates that a considerable portion of the population is composed of young people who, when given the right training and opportunity, can be promising assets of the country.

The strong concern and involvement displayed by the youth in the recent national election, for example, showed their desire for genuine change and their willingness to contribute to that change. This and the growing number of other youth-oriented, youth-led and youth-supported initiatives in the country suggest a significant degree of social consciousness and vigilance among young citizens today, and the increasing recognition by society of their crucial role in nation-building.

In order to strengthen the involvement of the youth in social development, the Emerging Pinoy Leaders Congress will be conducted on December 18-19, 2010 at Genesis Valley, Cabangahan, Consolacion, Cebu. The Congress will bring together young people from various sectors of society in Cebu to further promote active citizenship, identify shared goals, and foster collaboration towards youth and community development. This is done through knowledge sharing, adventure-based experiential learning approaches, and discussion forums.

The Congress is convened by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) and the Aboitiz Leaders of Excellence (ALEx), an organization composed of graduates from the youth programs of RAFI, namely, the Young Minds Academy, Young Minds on Xplore and Kool Adventure Camp. ALEx envisions a pool of proactive youth leaders initiating efforts and advocating change towards nation building by empowering, educating and engaging young people as contributors and advocates for social development.

RAFI, through the Eduardo Aboitiz Development Studies Center (EADSC), guides, supports and provides assistance to ALEx in organizing the Congress. RAFI, being an Architect of Change, aims to elevate the lives of others through a comprehensive approach that champions best practices in community development. Other partners will also be tapped to contribute in various parts and requirements of the program.
