iStore serves as drop-off point for Japan relief efforts

The Great Tohoku Earthquake, which reached a magnitude of 9.0 on the moment magnitude scale, and the terrible devastation resulting from the subsequent tsunami have caused untold damage and loss of life since striking off the coast of Japan last Friday, March 11, 2011.
MARCH for Christ, Inc. (Medical Action for Relief, Counseling & Healing) has organized a relief effort in cooperation with Philippine Airlines, who will provide free cargo space on their flights to Japan.
iStore Ayala and SM will serve as drop-off points in both malls to assist in sending help for Japan’s earthquake victims.
Apple has also started accepting Red Cross donations through iTunes.
What may be sent for free space available cargo (list is in order of priority):
•medicines for both pediatric and adult use, such as: antipyretics/ analgesics, cough & cold preparations, broad spectrum antibiotics, topicals, various sizes of wound dressings and adhesive plasters or bandages, splints, sutures, general surgery supplies ---please remove excess packaging to save on weight & space
•working flashlights and heavy duty pocket knives; ropes for extrication and similar rescue devices;
•water purification tablets
•waterproof light weight tents, sleeping mats and folding camp stoves (but no LPG or kerosene or anything flammable, please)
•dense or compact and high nutrition value food items such as: powdered milk or formula; dried beans and other legumes; canned meat or fish; ready-meals (dehydrated like K Rations); sugar or sugar substitutes; coffee; wheat flour; [Instant noodles are not a high nutrition or compact food item]
•light weight thermal blankets, windbreakers, sweaters, thick socks [these may be used so long as they are still in decent condition]
•NEW UNDERWEAR for all ages and genders [thermal is preferred as it is still winter there]
