DANCE XCHANGE 2012: The International Dance Workshop and Festival

The NCCA-National Committee on Dance under the leadership of Ms. Shirley Halili-Cruz in partnership with the Province of Cebu under the leadership of Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia is holding Dance Xchange 2012: The International Dance Workshop and Festival with the theme "Cultural Connectivity through Dance”. This event is the Philippine celebration of the International Dance Day and in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 154, declaring the last week of April as the "National Dance Week". Dance Xchange is also one of the banner projects of the Philippines, the Province of Cebu in particular as the ASEAN Cultural Capital for 2012. This will be held on April 27 – 30, 2012 at the Cebu International Convention Center, Cebu City, Philippines.
The Dance Xchange aims to: 1) strengthen network among dance groups in the ASEAN and beyond, 2) enhance knowledge and skills of the dancers, dance teachers and choreographers on dances of the different countries, 3) showcase the unique dances of each country to enhance cultural understanding, 4) provide venue for interaction and facilitate learning among dancers, directors, dance teachers, choreographers, and 5) harness the potential of the Philippines to be a cultural destination in Asia.
The Dance Xchange will have activities such as artists forum, dance workshops to be conducted by dance directors/ dancers from participating countries, masters classes, festival of dance performances, major concerts and cultural tours.
We would like to invite you to be a part of this dance gathering, as we work as partners in the promotion of the art of dance (meet other dance teachers and dancers from the different parts of the country and of the world.) Dance Xchange will be learning and fun.
General Schedule of Activities:
April 26 - Arrival and registration of participants in Cebu City
April 27 - Dance Forum, Dance Workshops, Master Classes
Opening Dinner and Dance Concert
April 28 - Dance Workshops, Outreach Performances, Gala Night
April 29 - Dance Workshops, Outreach Performances, Closing Concert
April 30 - Cultural Tour
May 1 - Departure of foreign and local performing
Registration Fee: P 1,500 (tickets for performances, kit, IDs,T-shirt, certificates, CDs and other materials.) Visit the NCCA site for more information.
