Local and foreign tourist heading to the beach this Holy Week will enjoy underwater photography at the resort tour mounted by Olympus’ tough underwater cameras.
Aptly titled “Olympus Tough Summer”, this event will take place at the Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort And Spa on April 23, 2011, Black Saturday, and at the Maribago Blue Water Resort on April 24, 2011, Easter Sunday.
All guests will have the chance to try the underwater capabilities of the Olympus Tough 8010, 6020 and 3000, which have waterproof, shockproof, crushproof and even freezeproof features.
“A resort tour is very suited to the Olympus Tough cameras, since these are the only cameras that are waterproof and virtually damage-proof as well,” said Alex Bonilla, product manager of Olympus digital cameras.
“These cameras take great photos on land and up to 33 feet under water. It can fall from as high as 7 feet, and even get frozen up to -10 degrees Celsius and still remain perfectly functional without any damage.”
Olympus will let resort guests use the Tough cameras during the resort tour, so that they can experience firsthand taking pictures of their children and families swimming in the water. Olympus will also print their photos for free.
Resort guests can also enjoy other fun activities, such as a photo-wall of sea creatures, at the Olympus booth.
“We want to interact with the Cebuanos outside a mall setting. This way, they can experience our cameras for free, enjoy our freebies, and have the option of buying our cameras at special prices. On our part, we are happy to connect with them in a relaxed atmosphere,” explained Bonilla.
The Olympus Tough Summer event further serves as a pre-launch of the newest Olympus Tough cameras coming out this May 2011. These are the TG 310, TG 610, and TG 805.
In addition to being waterproof, freezeproof, shockproof, and crushproof, these new models also come with new magic movie recording filters and 3D photo shooting.
Magic filters now include watercolor, giving photos a watercolor finish, and sparkle, which add twinkling lights to photos. Magic Movies recording with filters is also available.
Olympus will be putting up floor displays in both Imperial Palace and Maribago Blue Water resorts where guests can see and purchase cameras on sale.
For this resort tour, Olympus has partnered with Cebu camera giant Colours Digital Foto.
“Colours Digital Foto is our valued dealer in the Visayas area. We have a long-standing relationship with them and they have helped Olympus strengthen its position in Cebu and the rest of Visayas,” said Bonilla.
The Olympus Tough cameras are currently available in all Colours Digital Foto branches. Once the new models go on sale this May 2011, they can be found in Colours as well.
The Olympus Tough Summer event is being organized by Cebu-based events company, Crinnovent Corp. Participation in all Olympus activities is free. Resorts’ entrance fees still apply. For further details, one may call Colours Digital Foto at 2310169.
