CBE co-presents “Ang Guro: The Musicale”

The Coalition for Better Education (CBE), a Cebu-based network composed of various education stakeholders from the academe, students, parents, government, non-government to business organizations, media practitioners, and professional & civic groups, recently partnered with Stairs Productions in staging a musical play that aspires to honor and recognize the hard work and dedication of teachers and educators.

The musicale, aptly entitled “Ang Guro”, stars Karel Marquez of TV5’s “Sa Ngalan ng Ina” and respected theatre actress/singer, Ms. Pinky Marquez, along with other renowned stage actors.

“Ang Guro” depicts the story of Ma’am Resontoc (portrayed by Karel Marquez) and how herpassion for teaching influencesthe lives of her students. Along the vein of popular US TV show, “Glee”, “Ang Guro” features performance-based musical numbers that highlight the singing and dancing prowess of Marquez and the rest of the cast.

And, although the play is meant to be light and fun, it also aims to convey a serious message on how genuine education can be gleaned, not only from books, but more importantly, from real, daily life experiences. “Ang Guro” is a life chaging show that touches every heart and will make us appreciate and value our teachers and education more.

Ang Guro” will be shown at SM Cinema 2, on November 25, 2011 at these times: 10:00 AM/2:00 PM/6:00 PM.  For ticket reservations and/or inquiries, you may contact CBE, c/o Ency Encinares, at Tel. No.  4164625 to 26, or at mobile no. 0922-9056707.
