El Sistema:
El Sistema is a countrywide outreach program in music education in Venezuela, which has been transforming lives of Venezuelan youths from lives of crime and difficulty to lives of musicians making a difference for over 35 years.
This program is supported mostly for its civic-socio impact on society, where the main goal is to create citizens, not just musicians. More than 90% of the Children in the program belongs to the poverty level. Out of these children, the program has created one of the leading orchestras in the world, the Simon Bolivar Orchestra, and one of the premiere conductors of our time, Gustavo Dudamel.
This program has inspired at least 25 countries around the world to take on the same initiative for their youth. The benefit concert on January 26, at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral, will be the first step towards establishing of such a project in Cebu through Sistemang Pilipino.
