Globe Telecom has exceeded target commercial deployment of its 4G network utilizing the global standard HSPA+ after launching last April.
“We have activated more sites against our planned rollouts given the availability of 4G-enabled devices and applications in the market today and increasing demand from our subscribers who are excited to experience 4G,” said Peter Bithos, Senior Adviser for Consumer Business of Globe. “We continue to receive positive feedback from our subscribers who have experienced our 4G network. This motivates us to aggressively expand our 4G presence in more areas in the National Capital Region as well as in key cities nationwide in the next few months and into 2012.”
As of end-June, Globe 4G is already present in Western Bicutan, Signal Village, Sta. Ana, St. Michael Subdivision and Brgy. Bagumbayan in Taguig City; Brgy. Almanza Dos, Alabang-Zapote Road, Brgy. Pilar and Brgy. Pamplona Uno in Las Pinas City; Brgy. Parang, Brgy. Concepcion Uno and Marikina Heights in Marikina City; Brgy. Putatan, Cupang, and Tunasan in Muntinlupa City; Brgy. Marteres in Pateros; Brgy. Sta. Lucia in Pasig City; Sucat in Paranaque City; Balara, Project 8, Bagong Bantay, Don Antonio, Novaliches, Sta. Mesa Heights, Brgy. Holy Spirit, West Avenue, Brgy. Paltok 5 SFDM, Brgy. Bungad SFDM, Brgy. San Antonio, Brgy. Ubrero and Project 2 in Quezon City; Brgy. Vergara in Mandaluyong City; Tangos in Navotas City; Brgy. 22, Baesa, Kaunlaran Village, Llano Road, Brgy. Kaybiga, Grace Park West, Brgy. 173 North and 10th Avenue in Caloocan City; Sta. Ana, Sta. Cruz, Sta. Mesa, Tondo, Sampaloc and UN Avenue in Manila; Karuhatan, Brgy. Mabolo, Fortune Village 5 and Brgy. Canumay in Valenzuela City; Brgy. San Isidro in Makati City; and Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City. More cities and towns are expected to enjoy HSPA+ with continued activations within the coming months.
To make subscribers experience HSPA+, Globe has earlier introduced a suite of devices, handsets, and applications running on the company’s 4G mobile network. It started with the launch of the Tattoo Tonino Lamborghini stick, the fastest mobile broadband dongle available in the market today. The broadband dongle provides subscribers with internet speeds of up 10Mbps, or 5x faster than regular broadband sticks. For only P2,199 monthly, subscribers can enjoy surf-all-you-want, high speed broadband access with the added convenience of full mobility.
Globe also invaded the mobile device segment as the first operator to bring Samsung GALAXY S II, the first 4G smartphone that works best on the HSPA+ network, to mobile phone users in the Philippines. The Samsung GALAXY S II is perfect for subscribers whose mobile phone needs go beyond the traditional call and text services. With Samsung GALAXY S II, subscribers can enjoy faster and more seamless web browsing. Subscribers can avail of the Samsung GALAXY S II under My SuperSurf Plan 3799 or with a one-time discounted cash-out at lower plans. Prepaid subscribers can also purchase the Samsung GALAXY S II at P29,899 from Globe stores nationwide.
Finally, the company pioneered the launch of Video Message Service (VMS) in the Philippines in partnership with Ironroad Manila and GMA New Media. VMS is touted as one of the most interactive media channels available for mobile phone users today, allowing users to create, view, upload and share video content through their handsets in full speed, just like sending text messages. With Globe 4G, subscribers experience faster and more seamless access to various types of video content on their mobile phones, such as video blogs, music videos, and video clips from their favorite celebrities.
Added Bithos, “Our subscribers can expect more 4G-powered handsets, devices and applications available soon as we increase our HSPA+ footprint in NCR as well as in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, making them experience 4G their way, right here, right now.”
