RAFI, partners conduct medical mission for T. Padilla fire victims

The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) held a medical mission to 213 individuals, including 90 children, who were affected by the fire that hit Barangay T. Padilla, Cebu City last Aug. 9. This was conducted in partnership with the local government unit of Barangay T. Padilla, Cebu Doctors’ University Hospital, and Cebu City Medical Center.

The target beneficiaries received free consultations and free medicines during the medical mission held at the Kiwanis Day Care Center last Aug. 27.

Common complaints and ailments for both adult and children were common colds, cough, fever and flu.

Cases of skin-related diseases such as boils and blisters were also noted from child patients. For adults, hypertension and arthritis were also noted, according to Ronald delos Reyes, program coordinator of the Eduardo J. Aboitiz Cancer Center of RAFI.

The most dispensed medicines were paracetamol, mucolytics, and antibiotics.

A total of nine doctors, one pharmacist, four nurses, eight RAFI personnel, and 12 barangay volunteers helped during the collaborative activity.

Medical mission for victims of calamities in Cebu City is among the community extension services of RAFI, through the joint efforts of the Office of Humanitarian Relations and Services, Eduardo J. Aboitiz Cancer Center, and Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Fund.
