I. RATIONALE/ACTIVITY BACKGROUND
The Aboitiz Race to Reduce Challenge: A Race for the Next Gen is part of the information campaign on the sustainability efforts of the Aboitiz Group. Aboitiz companies groupwide are participating in the ongoing Race to Reduce Challenge, which encourages employees to reduce their consumption of power, water and paper.

The Race is also a fund-raising project for the Aboitiz Annual Christmas Outreach to be held in the first week of December. This employee-initiated event, allows team members to spend time with less-fortunate children to spread Christmas cheer and joy.

One of the important side events of the Race is a photo contest that aims to gather pictures that capture poignant and relevant action photos that show running as a sustainable sport and an inexpensive means of mobility.

The photo contest also welcomes entries that capture moments that show the stamina and endurance of people through running.

II. RULES & CONTEST PARAMETERS

1. The photo contest is open to all photographers who believe in running as a sustainable sport and care enough for the environment to want to show running as a means to preserve it.

2. Qualified to join and other requirements:

a. Professional and amateur photographers, hobbyists using either film or digital cameras.

b. Participants using film should convert their pictures to digital format (it may also be scanned - jpeg) and saved on a CD/DVD.

c. All contestants should bring and provide for their own photography equipment (cameras, flashes, tripods, etc).

d. Contestants will only be allowed to take shots at the sides of the marathon route.

3. Registration:

a. Registration forms may be obtained from Gemma Bojos at Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Aboitiz Corporate Center, Gov Manuel Cuenco Ave, Banilad Road, Kasambagan, Cebu City, telephone number: 411-1800.

b. Registration will start on July 28, 2010 and will end on August 19, 2010.

c. Registration fee is P200 per person. A registration form, official event and contestant ID, and a briefing kit will be given upon payment.

4. Requirements and Submission of Photo Entries:

A contestant is allowed to submit a maximum of 10 photos. All photos should be:

a. Taken during the Race to Reduce Run on August 22, 2010

b. In full color

c. Must be in or very near their original take

d. Digital retouching is tolerable on density, contrast adjustments, minor cropping on composition, burning and dodging.

e. Creative effects done at the time of exposure, such as multiple exposures, fill flash, side lighting, strobist, use of filters, etc, are also allowed.

f. Saved on a CD or DVD (jpeg format) with ONLY the following on its face (CD label):
Name of the event: Race to Reduce photo contest

Contestant Number (to be assigned to the contestant upon registration)

Note: Contestants must keep a copy of the original (untouched) file with the full exit intact.

The following are disallowed if these are/have:

a. Super imposed photos

b. In sepia, optimised, using infrared or other digital conversions
c. Borders of frames

d. Additions, posed and dramatized

e. Identifying marks on the images such as names, watermarks, addresses or any sign to insinuate information about the owner of the entry

CDs containing the contest entries must be received by Ms. Gemma Bojos not later than 5:00 pm, August 23, 2010 at the Corporate Center: Gov. Manuel A. Cuenco Ave., Cebu City.

All photos submitted for this contest shall become the property of the Outreach Committee of Aboitiz. It should not have been published in print or posted on any website, blog, or social networking site.

Photographers of winning entries shall be required to submit the file/s for verification/evaluation and publishing purpose.

III. CRITERIA FOR JUDGING

1. 35% - Shows running as a healthy, sustainable and environment-friendly sport

2. 30 % - Image quality (sharpness/ exposure / lighting)

3. 20% - Composition

4. 15% - Originality

IV. ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS & PHOTO EXHIBIT

A photo exhibit of the top 20 entries will open on August 26, 2010 at The Persimmon Plus in Mabolo, Cebu City. All finalists will be invited to this opening, where winners will be announced and awarded.

The decision of the photo contest Board of Judges is FINAL and UNAPPEALABLE.

The exhibit will run until August 29, 2010.
