After its success in planting almost 50,000 native tree seedlings in the province of cebu, the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) intends to continue their environmental advocacy. As a follow-up to their Run 2 Plant for Greenin Phils. last june 25, RAFI will organize another marathon scheduled on october, dubbed as RUN 2 Take Care.

The run this time will focus on taking care of and nurturing the seedlings planted during the run 2 plant.

The 1st part has been achieved, but now the challenge is to let the trees grow. We hope that 90 percent of it will grow, said roberto aboitiz of RAFI. Isabelo Montejo of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources said the crucial part now "is how to take care of the trees, their protection and maintenance."

With its environmental program involving regular province wide activities, rafi is positive that these seedlings will grow. The Provincial Government's Executive Order 3 institutionalizes the program and directs all local government units to take part in its implementation. Also the municipalities and LGUs, NGOs that joined the run2 plant will be coordinating with RAFI to ensure the monitoring and maintenance of the planted native tree seedlings.
